Visit Cerro La Cruz

A half-day city tour of Punta Arenas takes place in the morning.

Around 1900, Punta Arenas was one of the most important port cities in the New World due to its strategically favorable location. At that time, all ships still had to round Cape Horn and dock in Punta Arenas. Many well-preserved buildings still reflect the wealth of the city at that time. On your tour, you will get to know the beautiful Avenida Independencia and can admire the numerous monuments along the roadside. Then it's off to the Cerro La Cruz viewpoint, where you have a great view over the colorful rooftops of the city to the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.

Visit Plaza Muñoz Gamero

Finally, stop at Plaza Muñoz Gamero, in the middle of which stands the memorial to Hernando de Magallanes, surrounded by Indians. They say that if you kiss the toe of an Indian, you will return to Punta Arenas!

Afterwards transfer to the bus station.

**Note: City tour and transfer with English-speaking tour guide. German-speaking tour guide subject to availability.

The journey then continues north by public bus (without a tour guide) through the endless Patagonian steppe and past rivers, forests and sheep farms. The destination of the journey is Puerto Natales, which mainly serves as a starting point for a visit to the Torres del Paine National Park and the Balmaceda Glacier.
