Tour/Activity , Chile

Your Travel Experience with South American Tours DMC

You drive into the interior of the island to the restored Ahu Akivi with its seven rebuilt moais, which, according to legend, represent the seven ambassadors of King Hotu Matua. You then visit the unrestored Ahu in Hanga Poukura. The penultimate stop is Puna Pau Crater, where the headdresses of the Moais, the pukaos, were made. At the end of the half-day tour, you will visit the Tahai ceremonial site near the village of Hanga Roa. Here you will have the opportunity to see three restored ahus and the only moai that has had its eyes restored. In Tahai, the remains of hare pänga (boat houses), hare moa (chicken houses) and an enormous boat ramp have also been restored.

**Note: The excursion takes place together with international travelers.
