A city tour of Salta takes place in the morning.
Salta is proud of its history. It is the city that has preserved its colonial past and the first decades of independence architecture better than any other city in Argentina. Evidence of this period can still be seen in the historic center of Salta, including churches, convents, government buildings and private homes. Most of them are part of the city tour, starting with the famous 9 de Julio square, surrounded by the Cathedral of Salta and the Cabildo (the best preserved municipal council among those remaining in the whole country). You will then visit the Museo de Arqueología de Alta Montaña (MAAM). It houses a valuable archaeological treasure that bears witness to the presence of the Incas in this area, including some incredibly well-preserved mummies from high-altitude Inca sacrificial sites.
At the end of the tour, you will climb the Cerro San Bernardo, from where you will have a wonderful panoramic view of the city.
Afterwards, transfer to the airport in Salta.
