Experience the birthplace of tango up close! During your city tour, you will first visit the Avenida de Mayo, which leads into the famous Plaza De Mayo. Here you will see the Casa Rosada (seat of government and former fortress), the Metropolitan Cathedral (seat of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires) and the old city hall.
You enter the Metropolitan Cathedral and admire the impressive neo-classical architecture of the building, which is one of the country's most important Catholic landmarks. The mausoleum of Argentina's national hero General San Martín is housed in the cathedral and Pope Francis held his masses here when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires has a strong café culture, which stems from the many immigrants. There is a café on almost every corner. We will make a stop at a traditional café where you will enjoy a cup of coffee and snacks.
Then drive to San Telmo, which was a river port until 1888. The old small houses and the cobblestone streets give the district a special flair. A very nice flea market is held here every Sunday.
Continue to the port district of La Boca, which has become a famous tourist attraction due to its brightly painted tin houses. Visit the famous El Caminito street.
This is followed by a visit to the fashionable Recoleta district, home to the famous cemetery of the same name and Evita's grave.
At 140 meters, Avenida 9 de Julio is supposedly the widest boulevard in the world. It is home to the famous obelisk and the opera house, the Teatro Colón.
