You will first stroll through the San Lázaro district before arriving at the city's main square, where the cathedral is located. You will visit the nearby “Compania de Jesus” complex. This 17th century building is an example of mestizo art, reminiscent of a completely overloaded baroque style. The chapel of San Ignacio, built inside the complex, is also known as the Sistine Chapel of Arequipa due to its gold treasures and ceiling paintings. Finally, you will visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, an architectural masterpiece that has only been open to the public since 1970 after 400 years.
