The first destination of today's excursion is the so-called “stone tree”, a huge rock of volcanic origin that is shaped like a 5-metre-high tree. The lower part of the trunk consists of quartz crystals, feldspar and biotite, which have been exposed to wind and water.
You then drive to the Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), whose bright red color is caused by algae and plankton, for which the mineral-rich water is an ideal breeding ground.
Continue to the high geyser basin Sol de Mañana (morning sun), which is filled with bubbling mud holes, fumaroles and the intense smell of sulphur. Lunch on the way is included.
Return journey to Uyuni.
