Your Travel Experience with South American Tours DMC
Today you will explore Cusco during a city tour, which will take you to the most important sights of the Inca Empire and the colonial period.
On your tour you will visit Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun. The Catholic monastery of Santo Domingo was built on the same site and some of the Inca walls of the temple were used for the monastery. Continue to the cathedral, which was built on the ruins of the palace of the Inca Wiracocha and is known for its collection of colonial works of art from the Cusqueña school. You will walk through the Inca street Loreto, where you will find many old buildings and remarkably preserved Inca walls.
You will then leave the center to visit the outskirts of Cusco, where important ruins of the Inca empire can be found. Among them is the archaeological site of the Sacsayhuaman fortress ruins, whose zigzag walls, built of huge stones, have withstood the test of time.
**Note: In order to protect the historic city center of Cusco, vehicles are no longer allowed to enter the main square.
