Maras Tour
After a hearty breakfast, you embark on a full-day tour through the Urubamba Valley, better known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will first visit the picturesque village of Maras, which was used as a transshipment point for salt and a place of recreation in Inca times. The salt is still traditionally extracted by hand and foot from the salt terraces. The view over the approximately 3,000 salt springs is impressive.
Moray Tour
Moray is located near Maras. This is a pre-Inca complex of concentric agricultural terraces, some of which are 150 meters deep. The Incas are said to have maintained a large agricultural laboratory here, where they were able to create different microclimates and thus cultivate a large number of different types of grain.
Ollantaytambo Tour
The last item on today's program is Ollantaytambo, one of the oldest towns in the Sacred Valley and also known as the “last living Inca site in Peru”. Here you have the unique opportunity to visit a typical house of a local family and get an impression of the everyday life of the people of the region. Afterwards, you will visit the enormous Inca fortifications. Ollantaytambo is one of the few sites where the Spanish did not maintain their will to conquer and lost the battle against the Incas.
**Note: It is not permitted to enter the salt terraces.
